Statement of Purpose

Together with our community of donors, the Bay Area Immigration Bond Fund posts immigration bonds to free community members locked in cages by the US government. We do this to affirm people’s humanity and reunite them with their families and communities while they fight for their right to remain in the United States.

Our Principles

We believe no one should be imprisoned for being an immigrant, or being poor.

We believe no one belongs in a cage.

We stand against the politics of hate that drive our nation’s immigration policies.

We believe the immigration system perpetuates injustice, criminalizes people, and creates harm.

We believe the ability to choose where you live is a fundamental right.

We believe we have a moral obligation to take action.

We believe that we are not alone; we are part of a larger movement.

What We Do

We intervene in the unjust and cruel immigration system by posting bond for those who cannot afford to pay it on their own – freeing them from detention, allowing them to return to their families and communities, and increasing their ability to defend their case and remain in the US. After our clients’ cases are resolved, the money posted for the individual is returned to the fund and can be used again to bond out future clients.
